WHY THE WATER AND SANITATION PROJECT?

For most people in developing countries, water is used for more than drinking, cooking, and washing, In rural areas, women and children walk up to six hours daily to collect water. Most people collect water from shallow, unprotected ponds which they share with animals.

Each day thousands of people in Ghana, West Africa drink the same type of water. The water is contaminated with parasites called Guinea Worms and Schistosomes, as well Cholerabacteria. People drink from the contaminated ponds and become infected with parasites, bacteria and diseases. These result in pain and sickness, high infant mortality rate, debilitating diseases and often death.

The only real help for this terrible suffering is fresh water. For only $3,700.00 a well can be dug in seemingly desolate land. Water is such a simple thing to many of us, yet is more valuable than gold to others. Your gift will give Africans the gift of clean water to protect them from life threateningillnesses. Women and children will no longer walk up to 6 hours daily to get water. People with HIV will live stronger, longer, healthier lives. Villages will flourish. Your partnership can help save lives.
