EMPOWERING THE POWERLESS

"Education is the door to freedom, democracy and development" --Nelson Mandela

In regions of Africa where poverty is a part of everyday life, children are eager to learn, but do not have the means to do so? They are in villages that are without schools, without electricity, without running water, and the future seems bleak. Some of the problems facing third world countries are the cost of living, school fees, and unemployment

Many of the school buildings we have encountered are in a poor state of repair.  There are no desks or school supplies, and often several age groups are packed together into one small room.   Vocational training has an immediate effect for the person, who get trained – he or she acquires skills, which will make it easier to get employment or to create self-employment

1 World 1 Vision intends to change this, by addressing the fundamental needs of individuals and families in rural communities.  We want to reach out to the next generation by building schools and providing education and vocational training.   1 World 1 Vision believes that vocational training can erode the cycle of poverty and  allow individuals to acquire confidence and skills that enable them to live and provide for their families or create self-employment.   Our vocational training includes:

Computer Training (basic computer skills, graphic designs, web designs)

Medical Field (Lab Technicians, Medical Assistants, Nursing Assistants)

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (breeding, feeding and management of of animals and livestock for the production of food

Tailoring (sewing, design, pattern making)

Construction
